Friends of the Pima County Public Library is a non-profit (c) 3 organization that is dedicated to supporting and enhancing Tucson library services and programs.. Founded in , the organization was created by a group of avid library advocates who wanted to promote a . The other names, some previously mentioned, have been the Carnegie Free Library (), Tucson Public Library () Tucson-Pima Public Library (), Pima County Public Library (present). Even though the main library downtown was named Joel D. Valdez in , it also is referred to as Pima County Public Library.
This year the Friends will donate $, to the Library, and over the last ten years the Friends have donated over $ million to the Pima County Public Library to support enhanced programs and services including the Library’s Summer Reading program, author talks and events, and entertaining programs for Library lovers of all ages.
