Econometrics is the study of estimation and inference for economic models using economic data. Econometric theory concerns the study and development of tools and methods for applied econo-metric applications. Applied econometrics concerns the application of these tools to economic data. This research contains an econometric analysis of energy demand in trade and industry which allows for substitution between electricity and other energy carriers when relative prices change. Long-run substitution towards electricity is a means of electrifying energy demand and therefore contributes to paving the way for a renewable-based energy sys-tem. The mix of base-load power generation systems expected from various energy sources over the next 75 years is studied. The longer-run projection is recommended as a corrective for short-range forecasts ignoring some constraints which emerge only in the long run. Lead times for significant contributions of new and presently untested technology to electrical energy .

The complexity and volatility of energy markets creates strong demand for quantitative analysis and econometric techniques. This book offers an introduction to the state of the art in econometric modelling applied to the most pertinent issues in today's energy markets for a better understanding of the working of energy systems and energy economics.

The analysis shows that financial barriers caused by high upfront costs of energy efficient technologies, higher costs of finance, and higher opportunity costs of energy efficiency investment are key barriers to the adoption of energy efficiency measures in Ukraine.

Hydroelectricity is playing a significant role in lowering CO2 emissions as it contributes a desirable platform to fulfill the growing energy demand while releasing fewer GHGs in comparison to other fossil fuels. Utilizing the trans-log production model, this study is an endeavor to investigate the potential inter-fuel Econometric Analysis and Energy Substitution book by estimating the substitution.

The Energy Journal is the official quarterly journal of the International Association for Energy Economics. It was founded in to promote the advancement and dissemination of knowledge concerning energy, economics and related topics. The editors strive to publish a blend of theoretical, empirical and policy related papers in energy economics.

This book provides an introduction to energy economics. It shows how to apply general economic theory as well as empirical and advanced econometric methods to explain the drivers of energy markets. Moreover, the results facilitate the analysis of the importance of energy sector and the impact of shares of fossil and renewable energy sources in the energy mix throughout the transition from developing (low-income) to developed (high-income) economy (Wackernagel et al.,Turner and Hanley,UK Climate Change Committee, Fuel Efficiency Versus Fuel Substitution in the Transport Sector An Econometric Analysis Gal Hochman Govinda R.

Fuel efficiency versus fuel substitution in the transport sector: an econometric analysis (English) Abstract. The transport sector offers limited options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as compared with other sectors, such as power generation and industrial sectors.

The Economics and Econometrics of the Energy-Growth Nexus recognizes that research in the energy-growth nexus field is heterogeneous and make studies in the field as comparable as possible, chapters cover aggregate energy and disaggregate energy consumption and single country and multiple country analysis.

Through analysis of the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), this book demonstrates how to use a variety of econometric techniques to analyze the evolving and expanding carbon markets sphere, techniques that can be extrapolated to the worldwide marketplace.

Econometric Analysis: Looking at Flexibility in Models You may want to allow your econometric model to have some flexibility, because economic relationships are rarely linear.

Many situations are subject to the “law” of diminishing marginal benefits and/or increasing marginal costs, which implies that the impact of the independent variables.

The framework for our econometric analysis of the impact of energy and envi-ronmental policies is provided by the Intertemporal General Equilibrium Model (IGEM) introduced byJorgenson and Wilcoxen ().

The organizing mechanism of this model is an intertemporal price system balancing demand and supply for products and factors of production.
